Most stress management focuses on coping with stress. I do something different: I guide you in exploring and questioning the unconscious beliefs that create it in the first place.
Here’s what often happens: unknowingly you might have reduced the full reality of a situation down to a concept – a simple sentence like “this is terrifying” or “I can’t handle this.” That concept has replaced all the infinite possibilities and extraordinary nuances of what’s actually true. The Indian philosopher Krishnamurti said it well: “The day you teach a child the name of a bird, the child will never see the bird again.” When we label our experience, we stop seeing its full reality.
Together, we explore those beliefs through questions like: In what ways are you NOT nervous about this thing? What might a part of you believe it’s gaining from this stress – what positive outcome might you think the stress is doing for you? These turnarounds help you rediscover the fuller reality you’ve been overlooking.
Then, through guided hypnosis – a collaborative process because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis – we work together to reframe those limiting beliefs and reinforce new patterns that feel natural and lasting. Sometimes a metaphor emerges that resonates with you. Sometimes it’s about reconnecting with past successes you’ve forgotten. The process is collaborative; you’re the one making the changes. I’m simply the guide and facilitator.
